Ellen J. Strouse, 77, of DuBois died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 8, 1935 in Soldier, she was the daughter of the late William and Martina (Sloan) Leiberton. On Aug. 3, 1963 in Reynoldsville, she married Paul P. “Hawkey” Strouse. He preceded her in death in 2006.
She worked for Shop-n-Save for 10 years and the Litts Club for 20 years.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where she was one of the original members of the Ladies of Saint Joseph. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their many activities.
She is survived by her children, Jim Strouse and his wife, Deneise of Sykesville, Chuck Strouse and his wife, Lori of Brockway, Joseph Strouse and his wife, Brenda of Clearfield, Theresa Landini and her husband, Gary of Saxonburgh, Denise Borland and her husband, Robin of Rew and Juliana Strouse and her partner Lynn Keith of DuBois.
Also surviving are one brother, William Leiberton of Punxsutawney; three sisters, Carol Ishman, Rita Leiberton and Roberta Kurten, all of Reynoldsville; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
