Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Vouchers Still Available

CLEARFIELD – A limited number of Pennsylvania Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers are still available to qualifying senior citizens who live in Clearfield County. 

The SFMNP provides eligible, older citizens of Pennsylvania with vouchers to purchase fruits and vegetables at registered farmers markets.

Four $5 vouchers are being distributed one time during the program year to Clearfield County residents who are 60 years of age and older and who meet income eligibility requirements. The income limit is $20, 665 for a single person and $27,991 for a married couple. 

Identification showing date of birth and county (or town) of residency is required when vouchers are picked up.   A Social Security Card is not a valid form of identification for this purpose.   Acceptable identification samples include the following: a PA Driver’s License, a state photo ID, an ATA Identification card or a letter from the Social Security Administration stating age or date of birth.

Vouchers will only be available until the supply is depleted on a “first come, first serve” basis at the Clearfield Center for Active Living -765-9319, Mondays, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.; Coalport Center for Active Living – 672-3574, Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.; DuBois Senior & Community Center –371-4000, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. – 11a.m.; Houtzdale Family Service Center – 378-5120, Mondays and Tuesdays, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.; Karthaus Center for Active Living – 263-7277, Fridays, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Kylertown Center for Active Living –345-6338, Fridays, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.; and Mahaffey Center for Active Living – 277-4544, Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. 

Vouchers may be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables that are grown or growable in Pennsylvania.  The last day that vouchers will be distributed is Sept. 30.  However, the vouchers may be used through Nov. 30 of this year at participating Farmers Market locations.
