Hunter-Trapper Education Course
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is offering a two-day hunter/trapper safety course at the Wildlife Center. Spaces are still available for this program. Registration for this course may be completed online at www.pgc.state.pa.us or by contacting the state Game Commission North-central Regional Office at 1-570-398-4745. Meet the Author!
Come to the Wildlife Center for a chance to meet author and photographer Marci Geise. She will be available to sign copies of her book Elk Scenic Drive from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and light refreshments will be on hand.
She resides in York County and has been traveling and photographing the Elk Scenic Drive for seven years. With the publication of this volume, she hopes to inspire readers to explore wild places and discover the peace and beauty offered by the Elk Scenic Drive. Monarch Madness!
The monarch butterfly is an amazing insect. Deceptively delicate-looking, but incredibly tough, the monarch flies to Mexico each fall and is the only butterfly to migrate such a long distance.
Join the park naturalist for an afternoon of monarch butterfly fun and information. Meet at the Eagle Watch Station for a presentation on monarch biology and natural history and then spend time searching the butterfly garden area for caterpillars.
The program will then move to the Wildlife Viewing Area for a chance to net and tag monarchs and send them on their way.
Monarch Watch materials and information on tracking tagged butterflies will be included in this session. Butterfly nets and tags will be provided. Dress appropriately for being in the field.
