CLEARFIELD – Bridge replacement work on Route 2041, Bailey’s Settlement Road, in Clearfield County will get under way Wednesday, Sept. 12 and a detour will be in place. The bridge spans Bailey Run, about two miles southwest of Hyde.
Replacing the bridge with a new box culvert will allow PennDOT to remove it from Clearfield County’s list of structurally deficient bridges and keep it in service for years to come. The bridge, built in 1937, is 13 feet long and carries an average of almost 600 vehicles per day.
In order to place the new box culvert, the road and bridge will be closed and a detour will be in place. The official detour is short and makes use of Route 1001, Washington Avenue, Route 2040, High School Road, and Route 2041, Bailey’s Settlement Road.
PennDOT/Clearfield County Maintenance will perform this work, which is expected to last through Sept. 21, depending on weather. Work includes removal of the old wooden deck bridge, placement of the new box culvert, and miscellaneous items.
PennDOT will open the bridge sooner than Sept. 21, if work progress allows.
Drivers are reminded to follow official detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
