UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Three Penn State men’s golf team members have been named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List for the 2012-13 season, including senior Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.), sophomore Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.), and senior Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.). Three members from every team in the Big Ten were selected to this Players to Watch List.
DeGol returns for his senior season to lead the Nittany Lions. In the 2011-12 season, DeGol competed in 20 rounds and averaged a score of 74.05. His career low, also his low score on the season, was a 67. In Degol’s career at Penn State, he has totaled 41 rounds with the Nittany Lions while maintaining a career average score of 74.78 with a total of 3,066 strokes.
Talbert is back for his sophomore season at Penn State after competing in 16 rounds with 1,206 strokes. He averaged a score of 75.38 with a low of 71. Talbert will be looking for a strong start to his sophomore season with the Nittany Lions.
Woodward heads into his final season as a Nittany Lion in 2012-13. He competed in 26 rounds during the 2011-12 season with a 75.96 average. Woodward shot a season low 70 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in the spring, while his career low is a score of 69. Last season, he totaled 1,975 strokes with a career stroke tally of 3,258.
The Penn State men’s golf team will open their 2012-13 season at the two-day Gopher Invitational in Wayzata, Minnesota on Sunday, Sept. 9.
