Hancock named Big Ten Player and Setter of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sophomore Micha Hancock (Edmond, Okla.) was named the Big Ten Player and Setter of the Week, conference officials announced Monday (Sept. 3). These are the first Player and Setter of the Week honors for Hancock.

Hancock guided Penn State to wins against No. 9 Stanford (3-2) and No. 2 Texas (3-0) to win the Rockvale Outlets Nike Big Four Volleyball Classic. She earned a spot on the all-tournament team for her performance.

For the weekend, Hancock averaged 10.9 assists per set and paced the Nittany Lion offense to a .242 hitting percentage. Against the Cardinal on Aug. 31, Hancock recorded a double-double with 53 assists and 23 digs. She also added three aces and four blocks. On Sept. 1 versus the Longhorns, Hancock posted 34 assists and also tallied five kills in seven errorless swings.

Penn State is back in action at the Chicago Classic on Sept. 8-9. The Nittany Lions are scheduled to face DePaul, Oregon State and UIC.
