Two Women Injured in Alcohol-related Accident

UNIONVILLE BOROUGH – Two people sustained moderate injuries following a two-vehicle, alcohol-related accident at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Main and Union streets in Unionville Borough, according to the Philipsburg-based state police.

Shara J. Goyne, 29, of Bellefonte was flown to the Altoona Hospital and Karen L. Jacobs, 40, of Fleming was transported by ambulance to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for medical treatment. Both were moderately injured in the accident.

Goyne was traveling westbound on Main Street, while Jacobs was traveling northbound on Union Street. Goyne failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection, where her vehicle was struck by that of Jacobs. Both vehicles came to a rest near the area of impact.

Jacobs was wearing her seatbelt; however, Goyne wasn’t wearing her seatbelt. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Alcohol was a factor and the accident remains under investigation, state police said.
