State Police Investigating String of Burglaries

DUBOIS – The Clearfield- and DuBois-based state police are investigating a string of burglaries that occurred in recent weeks during the nighttime hours in Clearfield and Jefferson counties.

The suspects have targeted three businesses and two churches, removing money and other property. The methods utilized are similar in these burglaries.

The electrical service meter was disabled each time in an attempt to disarm any burglar alarm systems. Entry was then gained by smashing a ground level window, state police said.

Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity in or around businesses or churches, especially if persons are tampering with electrical meters. Anyone with information regarding these incidences is asked to contact the DuBois-based state police at 814-371-4652 or the Clearfield-based state police at 814-857-3800.
