PENFIELD – Truck traffic traveling on Route 153 northbound, Sullivan Hill Road, in Huston Township, Clearfield County, will be reminded of one of the most common types of aggressive driving behavior: speeding.
PennDOT recently placed a radar-controlled speed display sign showing a 20-mile-per-hour speed limit for trucks of more than 21,000 pounds gross weight traveling on Route 153 just south of Penfield. The speed display sign uses radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic. Vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the sign.
The speed limit for vehicles under 21,000 pounds gross weight in this area is 55 miles per hour.
The speed display sign will remain on location for up to four weeks.
Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of accidents and fatalities in Pennsylvania. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, passing illegally and tailgating.
