Oktofurfest Set for Oct. 13

CLEARFIELD – Oktofurfest, a microbrew tasting festival sponsored by the Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, has been set for Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Expo I Building at the Clearfield Driving Park.

Oktofurfest will offer two tasting sessions. The first tasting will be held from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and the second tasting will be held from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Tickets may be ordered online using PayPal or Google Checkout and are also available at Waggin’ Trains, Gray Engine Service and Jack’s Distributing, all in Clearfield.

Jo Thompson, owner of Jack’s Distributing and one of the sponsors, is finalizing the list of 20 craft beers and hard ciders that will be offered for tasting.

Oktofurfest proceeds are earmarked for the completion of the SPCA’s new shelter in Lawrence Township. The majority of the $325,000 needed to finish the project is for dog kennels, cat condos and other animal-related items.

“A strong Oktofurfest means we can move that much sooner. We do not want to spend another winter in the current shelter. We have many plans for the new facility and we are eager to get moving,” said organizer Beth Fulesday Hallstrom.

Oktofurfest guests are encouraged to bring an everyday Wish List item: Sheetz gas cards, postage stamps, bleach, paper towels, paper plates, garbage bags, office supplies, Kong toys and new or gently used blankets and towels.
