UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State softball will host a one-day fall skills clinic Sept. 16 at Beard Field and Nittany Lion Softball Park. The clinic will be limited to 80 campers to ensure a personalized experience and guidance from Nittany Lion head coach Robin Petrini and her staff.
The Penn State Softball Skills Clinic is designed for girls in grades 9-12. The clinic will give athletes an opportunity to improve their skills with the direction of the Penn State softball coaching staff including assistants Jen McIntyre and Lisa Banse.
The first session, running from noon to 2 p.m., will include training for pitchers and catchers and is limited to 40 participants. The second session will focus on both offensive and defensive play and spans from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The focus of the clinic will teach tactical aspects of softball with a competitive environment. Clinic participants are instructed to bring all necessary softball equipment (bats, helmets, glove and tennis shoes), while catchers should bring their own gear including shin guards, chest protectors and masks. The sessions cost $50 and $90, respectively. Admission for both sessions is $130.
Penn State is scheduled to play eight games at home this fall. The team kicks off the autumn slate with a doubleheader against Bucknell Sept. 14 before playing two against Bloomsburg Sept. 21.
