CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw Jr. today announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Christopher Clark, 30, of Spring Street, Clearfield. Clark was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list Monday.

On June 5, 2012, Trooper Michael Berta of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield barracks, filed a criminal complaint, charging Clark with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Berta states that in May 2012, the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into an assault that occurred on Alder Street in Gulich Township. Upon investigation it was found that Clark had punched the victim in the face and had struck the victim with a baseball bat. It was also found that Clark had damaged the victim’s vehicle by striking it with a baseball bat several times.

A preliminary hearing was held July 11, at which time all charges were held to court. On Aug. 3, Clark failed to appear for arraignment court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous tip provided the location of Clark. On Tuesday, deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in Hyde in order to apprehend Clark. At the residence, Clark attempted to flee from the deputies; however, his attempt failed and he was apprehended. Clark is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.

Shaw acknowledged that Clark was successfully captured as a direct result of citizens who are willing to provide information to law enforcement.  He thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work and assistance with this case.
