Two Injured in Brady Township Accident

BRADY TOWNSHIP – An 83-year-old Curwensville woman sustained major injuries and was transported to the Altoona Hospital after a tractor-trailer struck her vehicle at 2:45 p.m. Monday along state Route 219 in Brady Township.

The DuBois-based state police identified the woman as Alverta D. Hoover, 83, of Curwensville. In addition, Robert D. Rorabaugh, 62, of Burnside, who operated the tractor-trailer, sustained moderate injuries. He was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Rorabaugh was traveling northbound and negotiating a curve when his tractor-trailer overturned onto the left lane. It entered into the path of the Hoover vehicle, which was traveling southbound.

The top of the tractor-trailer struck the front-end of the Hoover vehicle.  Both sustained severe damage, state police said. State police were assisted by the Brady Township Fire Department.
