Melvin L. Wisor, 73, of Clearfield died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  For 52 years, he was the husband of Kathern E. (Frantz) Wisor, whom he married May 21, 1960.

Born March 17, 1939, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Bessie (Hunt) Wisor. He was a member of the Spring Valley United Methodist Church. 

Mr. Wisor was employed with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a machine operator until retiring in 1977.  He was a member of the Four Leaf Clover Little League and the Shortwave and the Hillbilly CB Clubs.

He was a lifetime member of the Bigler-Jackson-Woodland Fire Company and Fire Police and the Bradford Township Park Authority. He was a past president and a member of the PennDOT AFSCME retirees.

In addition to his wife, surviving are four sons, Ronald S. Wisor of Hyde; Russel L. Wisor and his wife, Richele of West Decatur; Vincent A. Wisor of Bigler; and Kevin C. Wisor and his wife, Kelly of Woodland; nine grandchildren, Miranda Coulter and her husband, Brad, Preston Wisor, Melvin Wisor, Brittany Wisor, Michael Wisor, Gage Wisor, Matthew Wisor, Makenzi Hoyt and Harlee Fyock; three great-grandchildren, Josh and Branden Coulter and Avriel Martell; and one brother, Arthur Wisor and his wife, Debbie of Woodland.

He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin E. Wisor; two sisters and a brother, Barbara Peters, Gail Rauch and Ronald A. “Arnie” Wisor.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Spring Valley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sam Maines officiating.  Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 East Locust St., Clearfield and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the BJW Fire Co. or to the Spring Valley United Methodist Church.
