Detour will be lifted once bridge re-opens
CLEARFIELD – Repairs are almost complete on a Pike Township bridge on Route 2024, Old Erie Pike, and PennDOT expects to re-open the bridge to traffic by the end of the day Thursday. The bridge spans Rails to Trails, near Route 879.
The bridge repairs were part of a contract to preserve five bridges in Clearfield County. Preservation of the five bridges will help extend their serviceable life for the next decade.
The Pike Township Bridge has been closed since early July and a detour using Routes 879 and 2023 has been in place. Once the bridge re-opens, PennDOT will lift the detour. Some painting work underneath the bridge remains and that work will be done without any impacts to traffic.
Contract work included beam and abutment repairs, bridge deck repairs, steel repairs and painting, guide rail updates and miscellaneous activities. C H & D. Enterprises Inc. of New Stanton was the contractor on this $1 million project.
The bridge over Rails to Trails was the last one to be repaired under this contract.
Along with the Pike Township Bridge, the contract included:
• The Lee Run Bridge on Route 219 near Bells Landing
• The Hawk Run Bridge on Route 1009 in Morris Township
• The Beaver Run Bridge on Route 53 in Houtzdale
• The Bell Run Bridge on Route 969 in Greenwood Township
