A free, special demonstration of acrylic technique will be offered at the Market Street Craft Store located at 109 East Market St., Clearfield.

The demo will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 and will highlight practices of painting to be offered in an upcoming series by instructor Christion Iraca of Jody’s Art Studio.

Through demonstration, theory and examples from the masters, the techniques of representational painting will be taught. The goal of the class is to learn the fundamentals of painting, focusing on learning to understand what is observed: practicing hand-eye coordination; judging spatial relationships, and translating the 3-D world onto the canvases.

“My continuing journey of painting has been full of challenges and ‘ah-ha’ moments; both of which I wish to share with everyone,” said Iraca. He has studied Art, Art History and Architecture at Northern Virginia Community College, The Corcoran, and Penn State University, where he received a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts in drawing and painting.

The four-class series will begin Thursday Sept. 6. It will run from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. each Thursday through September.  Cost of the series, excluding materials, is $60.  Area residents aged 60 and older are eligible to register for the class for $40 through the Clearfield Center for Active Living.
