Additional Sex Assault Charges Filed against Berks County High School Teacher, Coach

HARRISBURG – Additional charges have been filed against a Berks County high school teacher and water polo/swimming coach as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged inappropriate contact with underage girls.

Attorney General Linda Kelly said that Jonathan Bell, 31, 105 Colleen Ct., Wyomissing, Berks County, faces seven additional counts including; statutory sexual assault, sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Kelly said the latest criminal charges are the result of an ongoing investigation, which uncovered that Bell allegedly had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female student while she was a 15-year old sophomore. Bell was initially arrested Aug. 7 and charged with having a sexual contact with a 17-year old female student from December 2010 through May 2011.

In the latest charges, Bell is facing one count each of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors.

Bell is currently being held in the Berks County Sheriff’s Office – Process Center awaiting arraignment.

The case will be prosecuted in Berks County by Deputy Attorney General Daniel Dye of the Attorney General’s Criminal Prosecution Section.

Kelly thanked the Governor Mifflin School District and the Exeter School District for their cooperation and assistance with the investigation. Kelly also thanked the Berks County District Attorney’s Office for their ongoing assistance.
