UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State men’s soccer head coach Bob Warming has announced the addition of head athletic trainer Stephen Delger to the team’s staff.
"We are excited to have Steve working full-time with men’s soccer this fall," Warming said. "Without a doubt, this is going to help our players. Steve is a hard worker, talented and knows how to relate to players and get them ready to play and prepared to return from injury."
Delger previously served as an assistant athletic trainer while in graduate school at Penn State Harrisburg from 2010-12. He spent the 2011-12 season with the Nittany Lion baseball team. Now Delger returns to the men’s soccer squad he worked with two years ago.
"The consistency of having one person who really knows each player, knows each players flexibility issues, knows how to get players regenerated during the season and returned to action quickly is simply invaluable," Warming said of Delger’s return to men’s soccer duties. "Steve has a critical position on our staff and we could not be happier to have him."
Delger attended Iowa State University as an undergraduate, gaining experience working with football, men’s basketball and women’s volleyball in a student role.
The Penn State men’s soccer team begins preseason practice Aug. 8 and hosts its exhibition home opener against Hartwick Aug. 13.
