Obituary Notice: Harry E. “Sooner” Wray

Harry E. “Sooner” Wray, 79, of DuBois died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Christ the King Manor.

Born Sept. 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Harry Melvin and Edna Catherine (Roderich) Wray. He graduated from DuBois High School in 1950.

He was a member of the Tri-County Church.

Mr. Wray was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After 43 years of service, he retired from Rockwell International Manufacturing.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and running fox dogs.  He enjoyed playing many sports and was an avid sports fan.

On Feb. 13, 1954, he married Luella (Hoover) Wray.  She survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Mrs. Lee (Karen) Peterman of Summerville, SC; Mrs. Herb (Nancy) Barr of DuBois; Cynthia S. Renwick and her husband, Darryn of Penfield; Marcia Gulley of Luthersburg; and David Wray of Falls Creek;  12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tom and  Earl Wray of DuBois and Bill Wray of Sabula; and one sister, Virginia Nesbitt of DuBois.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin “Booby” Wray and Robert “Auckie” Wray; two sisters, Grace Wray and Catherine Matson; and two grandchildren, Gretchin Sue Longo and David P. Wray.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
