CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) has announced the winners of its summer Design Challenge Grant for Storefront and Facade Improvements.
The Facade Improvement Program is intended to stimulate private investment in the preservation of the historic downtown architecture and to foster improvements in the appearance of downtown commercial properties.
The CRC will be funding two projects in this grant round. The first is located at 214 North Third St., the previous property of Catalano Cycle Center, which is currently owned by SieDust LLC.
The second is located at 109 North Front St., the office of Dr. Jay L. Arlick, Clearfield Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
A total of $7,255 has been granted for these projects, spurring a total private investment of $22,010.
“We are pleased to fund these projects and inspire revitalization in downtown Clearfield. This is the last round of grants for 2012, but the CRC will be hosting an Image and Design workshop in the fall, which we hope will spur fresh ideas with plenty of time for budgeting and planning for the next facade grant cycle in February 2013,” said CRC Design Committee Chair, Katie Miknis.
The SieDust LLC property will receive funds to complete Phase II of its renovation project, which will include renovating the spaces, where its windows once existed. Dr. Arlick’s office will receive funds to repair and paint the woodwork, architectural accents and molding, which will be highlighted with contrast painting. New windows will also be installed.
“I would like to thank the businesses for reaching out to the CRC for assistance and guidance with their facade improvement,” said Main Street Manager, Kellie Truman.
“To date, we have improved almost 30 percent of the commercial properties in the downtown.”
“This is a high statistic for only three years of a Main Street Program. The town has already started to see the positive effects of beautification and image, and with your help, we can continue the momentum and inspiration of revitalization.”
Truman said it is never too early to start planning for your facade improvement project through our Facade Grant Program, which is a 50 percent match up to $5,000 toward your project in the Main Street District.
