State Police: Scott Neal Promoted to Major

HARRISBURG – State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan has promoted Scott A. Neal of Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, to major and assigned him as Director of the Bureau of Communications and Information Services.

Neal, 46, most recently served as commanding officer, Troop C.

A native of Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Neal enlisted in the state police in 1987.  Following his academy training, he was assigned to Troop G, Rockview.

As he progressed through the ranks, Neal also served at stations in Troop A, Greensburg and Indiana; Troop C, Clearfield, Punxsutawney, DuBois, and Tionesta; Troop D, Kittanning and Butler; and Troop B, Washington. He was promoted to corporal in 1993, to sergeant in 1999, to lieutenant in 2004 and to captain in 2009.

Neal is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.

Major Neal is married to the former Michele Corrado, a native of Monroeville, Allegheny County, and they have two children, Chelsea, 21, and Braden, 15.
