State Police: Gregory Bacher Promoted to Captain

HARRISBURG – State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan has promoted Gregory M. Bacher of Clearfield County to captain and assigned him as commanding officer, Troop T, Highspire. Bacher, 49, most recently served as a criminal investigation section commander, Troop G, Hollidaysburg.

A native of Clearfield County, Bacher enlisted in the state police in 1984.  Following his academy training, he was assigned to Troop F, Montoursville.

As he progressed through the ranks, Bacher also served at stations in Troop F, Mansfield and Coudersport; Troop G, Lewistown, Rockview, Philipsburg and Hollidaysburg; Troop N, Hazleton; Troop C, Shippensville and Clearfield and Troop E, Erie and Warren. Bacher has also served with the Bureau of Training and Education and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Prior assignments include Bureau of Training and Education, Criminal Investigation Instructor, Southwest Training Center; Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He was also a 15-year member of the Special Emergency Response Team, Western Division as a Team Leader.

Bacher was promoted to corporal in 1993, to sergeant in 1999 and to lieutenant in 2007.

Bacher is married to his wife, Paula and they have two children, Morgan, 27, and Trooper Gregory Bacher Jr., 25.
