Residents Urged to Take Steps to Beat the Heat

CLEARFIELD – With summer in full swing and tempatures to reach above 90 degress today and tommorow, Mayor James Schell and the Clearfield Borough Police Department would like to remind residents to stay safe and healthy in the heat. They are urging residents to stay hydrated and in shaded or air-conditioned area whenever possible.

Heat related illness such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke can be fatal if untreated and need to be taken seriously, particulary for the elderly and younger populations. Residents should follow heat safety precautions and pay attention to the warning signs such as nausea, dizziness and headaches. If systems persist, call 911 immediately. Family, friends and neighbors are also urged to check in frequently with elderly residents who may need assistance during the hot weather.

Residents are also reminding residents to please take care of the family pets as well. Proper hydration, and keeping the pets cool is also vital.
