Health Insurance Change Could Save Thousands in Lawrence Township

CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township is looking to save thousands in a health care agreement with employees.  The exact savings is in the hands of the employees.

“Ideally, if we are fortunate, we saved the township thousands of dollars,” said Township Solicitor James Naddeo.

Naddeo announced to the supervisors that township employee representatives were appearing favorable to the current deal.  Naddeo stated that was still unofficial.  He thanked both sides to coming to the current proposed deal by negotiating in good faith.

The currently proposed plan was described as similar, if not a little better, for the Lawrence Township employees by the supervisors.  The current health care service would cost the township $22,000 and the employees $33,000.  The savings comes in from possibly switching to a higher copayment plan than currently in place.  The township is offering to pay the difference up to $60,000 collectively.  The more healthcare township employees use the less savings there will be for the township.
