In order to perform the work, the bridge over Rails to Trails will be closed and a detour will be in place. The signed, official detour will direct drivers to use SRs 879 and 2023 (Glen Richey Highway). Work on the Pike Township Bridge is part of a contract to preserve five bridges in Clearfield County. The Pike Township bridge is the last one to be repaired under this contract. Work is expected to last until mid-August.
Repairs to the five bridges will help to extend their serviceable life for about ten years. Overall work has included beam and abutment repairs, bridge deck repairs, steel repairs and painting, guide rail updates, and miscellaneous activities.
Along with the Bell Run and Pike Township bridges, the contract included:
- The Lee Run Bridge on US Route 219 near Bells Landing
- The Hawk Run Bridge on SR 1009 in Morris Township
- The Beaver Run Bridge on SR 53 in Houtzdale
All work is weather and schedule dependent. C H & D. Enterprises, Inc. of New Stanton is the contractor on this $1million project.
