The program is voluntary, just like the prescription discount program.
County Commissioner Mark McCracken reiterated that the program is not dental insurance, but a discount program. He said for people without dental insurance, the program could prove valuable.
The program does have fees. The individual rate is $6.95/month or $59/year; the family rate is $8.95/month or $69/year. McCracken said several dentists in the area have opted in to participate in the program.
The commissioners will have Solicitor Kim Kesner review the fine details before consideration at a later meeting.

The program is sponsored by the National Association of Counties, and is administered by Careington International.
