Obituary Notice: T. Edward Fleming Sr.

T. Edward “Ed” Fleming Sr., 62, of New Millport died Saturday at his home after a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 7, 1949 in Spangler, he was the son of Lewis and Goldie (Lenhart) Fleming.

He was a 1969 graduate of BCI Area High Schools. He was employed at the Bradford Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years. He attended the Zion Baptist Church in Ansonville.

On Feb. 7, 1970 at Oak Ridge Union Church, he wed Jeannie Rowles, who survives along with three children, Barbie Gearhart and her husband, Jim of Woodland, Bobbi Jo Swatsworth and her husband, Bob of New Millport and Tommy Fleming and his wife, Kim of Olanta.

Surviving are nine grandchildren, Danielle Middaugh, Courtney Ensminger, Robert Dale Swatsworth, Brenna Swatsworth, Bryce Fleming, Madalynn Swatsworth, Alexander Fleming, Madison Fisher and Andriana Swatsworth, two great-grandchildren, Sydney Ensminger and Kaelien Middaugh

Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Ann Marie Worth of Pennellville, NY; Sandy DeMore and Dorothy Kephart, both of Duncansville; LeVern Kephart and his wife, Cathy of York; Lewis Fleming and his wife, Pat of Altoona; Grace Smeal and her husband, Garry of Ansonville; and Mary Miles of Irvona; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Fleming of Ansonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill Fleming and Arnold Kephart.

He loved and lived for his family. He was an avid hunter and raised and trained beagles and coon hounds.

Services for Mr. Fleming will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Richard Engle officiating. Interment will follow in the Fruit Hill Cemetery of Ansonville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
