CLEARFIELD – A topic that has some folks crowing was back before Clearfield Borough Council on Thursday night.

Patti Baker addressed council in regards to supposedly owning roosters at a prior council meeting. She stated that was untrue; she owns one rooster and a flock of hens. She stated that other people in the borough do as well.

“There are coops all over Clearfield.”

She said when she hatches her eggs, if it comes out a rooster, she eats it or gives it to someone else. She stated the rooster was not at her residence during many of the complaints filed. She also stated she kept a rooster because it helped to protect her hens and she liked fertilized eggs.

She looked to counter a report that the rooster wakes people up in the early hours of the morning.

“That rooster does not wake me up in the morning,” said Baker. “Birds and dogs wake me up before the rooster does.”

“If my rooster crows that early in the morning, so is everyone else’s,” added Baker. “Why am I the only one being witch-hunted.”

She chalked it up to upset neighbors who have a vendetta against her. She said the real crime is in the false reporting and the people taking pictures of her home.

“I’m being stalked.”

She also chided the police chief for allegedly parking in the alley near her house. She said there were better uses for her tax dollars than that.

Following her comments, Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell III said that due to a pending citation hearing, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack, Police Chief Vincent McGinnis and council member Jim Kling would remain silent at this time.
