Emergency Crews Handle Gas Line Rupture in Clearfield Borough

CLEARFIELD – Emergency crews were called out on Thursday to deal with a gas line rupture in East End.

According to Fire Chief Todd Kling, the incident occurred when the street crew was excavating for a job on East Ninth and Dorey Street and inadvertently struck a 2 inch gas line. Kling said the fire department, fire police, police department and the county Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. He said residents in a one block radius were evacuated and no injuries were reported. Kling said UGI Gas Company arrived on scene and repaired the damage.

Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack praised during the Cleafield Borough Council meeting for his handling of the situation, noting that he coordinated the effort very well.
