On Thursday, Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation Chief Executive Officer Rob Swales was before council to explain where his side was at with the proposed agreement, as well as the looming deadline.
“Time is definitely ticking,” said Swales. He stated that there will be a major overhaul of Department of Community and Economic Development funding for projects, including outstanding RAC-P projects.
“We’re anxious to move ahead,” said Swales of the roughly $10 million project.
He added that the proposed contract between the two sides has mostly been worked out. He asked council what they needed to move forward.
Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell III informed council there were two items, an address, and financial concerns, that had to be addressed before the agreement could be executed. He felt fairly certain that could be done before the upcoming deadline.
SOME QUICK BACKSTORY
In 2007, Clearfield Borough Council entered into an agreement with Rober Yoder and his Impact PA group for riverfront development in the borough. This development consisted of a riverwalk along both sides of the Susquehanna River between the Market and Nichols Street Bridges, as well as property development. That proposed development consisted of living dwellings and office spaces.
In 2010, after roughly three years of inactivity on the project, council looked to cut ties with Yoder.
Most recently, the borough looked to team up with the CCEDC to perform riverfront development.
