CLEARFIELD-A Clearfield woman accused of setting fire to her boyfriend’s clothes in her apartment was sentenced on Tuesday in Clearfield County Court.
Kimberly Rose Kapsouris, 34, Clearfield, an inmate of the jail, who was originally charged with arson, pleaded guilty to two counts of recklessly endangering another person, three counts of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and a summary dangerous burning charge. She was sentenced to 85 days to one year in jail and two years consecutive probation. She was fined $370 plus costs. She must complete drug and alcohol counseling and pay over $2,500 in restitution.
The charges stem from an incident on March 26 in Clearfield Borough. According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were first called to Kapsouris’s residence for a noise complaint but there was no answer at the residence. Eventually police made contact with her in an alley and took her back to the apartment to turn the music down.
After the apartment door was open, they could see the place was full of smoke. Two windows were open and the source of the smoke was found to be burnt particles in the kitchen sink and the shower. There were also multiple burnt items of clothing outside as if they were thrown from the window. Later the items were identified as belonging to her boyfriend.
When questioned by police, the boyfriend said he had not been home for several hours because he was doing laundry. While waiting for his laundry he went toSt. Charlesand he got a call from Kapsouris asking when he was coming home.
Shortly after this, Kapsouris found him with a womane atSt. Charlesand confronted him. She struck him and yelled “come home and see what you get.” A short time later, he received a text message from a neighbor telling him Kapsouris tried to burn down the apartment.
Kapsouris admitted to burning his clothing in the kitchen sink and moving them to the bathroom to avoid damaging the kitchen cabinets.
