Edward F. Rutkowski, 81 of DuBois died Friday at his residence. Born May 12, 1931 in Stump Creek, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Rajavich) Rutkowski.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He retired from Owens Brockway in Brookville and Riverside in DuBois.
He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic minister; he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He served in the U.S.A.F. A.A.C.S. group in the Korean Conflict.
He is a life member of the U.S.A.F. A.A.C.S. Alumni Association and was chairman of the Pennsylvania U.S.A.F. A.A.C.S. Alumni. He was a life member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Association and the NRA Patron Association.
He was also a member of the Pulaski Club and the Punxsutawney Groundhog Polka Club. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, honorary life member of Council 519 and past Grand Knight; honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree assembly 2661 and was Faithful Navigator for eight years. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and he was on the planning committee for his class reunion from Sykesville High School class of 1950.
On Sept. 17, 1955, he married Mildred J. (Skraba) Rutkowski. She survives.
He is survived by a son, Joseph E. Rutkowski and his wife, Veronica Lisciandro of Sylvania, OH; four sisters, Dorothy Siemucha, Isabelle Bochiechio and Henrietta Ventura, all of Buffalo, NY; Irene “Helen” Glowacki of DuBois; and two grandchildren, Maria Parrish and Kristin Rutkowski.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Rutkowski, Frances Rutkowski and Violet Siemucha and one brother, William Rutkowski.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A military ritual will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct full military honors from the cemetery.
Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
