CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Willie Ray Hockenberry, 23, of Grassflat. Hockenberry was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on April 23.
On Jan. 3, Trooper Terry Jordan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint, charging Hockenberry with receiving stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Jordan states that in May 2011, the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into three separate incidents of theft from motor vehicles in Cooper Township. Several items, including credit cards, U.S. currency and a lap top, had been stolen from the vehicles. Upon investigation it was found that Hockenberry had unlawfully entered the vehicles and removed the missing items.
A preliminary hearing was held on Jan. 25, at which time Hockenberry failed to appear and all charges were held to court. On Feb. 15, Hockenberry failed to appear for arraignment court and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on June 11, Hockenberry voluntarily surrendered himself to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
