Fugitive of the Week: Scott Joseph

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 11, 2012.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Scott Joseph, age 41, of Mahaffey.

Shaw stated that Joseph is wanted for failure to appear at criminal call on May 17, 2012.

On Oct. 3, 2011, Trooper David Kostok of the Pennsylvania State Police, Punxsutawney Barracks, filed a criminal complaint charging Joseph with: 1) theft by unlawful taking, F3; 2) access device fraud, F3; 3) unauthorized use of automobiles and other vehicles, M2; and 4) theft from a motor vehicle, M3.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Kostok states that in October 2011, the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle from a residence located in New Washington Borough. Upon investigation it was found that Joseph was the caretaker for the victim, and had taken the victim’s motor vehicle. It was also found that Joseph had used the victim’s bank card, which had been located in the vehicle, and made unlawful charges totaling $1,399.50.

A preliminary hearing was held on Oct. 26, 2011, at which time all charges were held to court. On May 17, 2012,  Joseph failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
