Floyd E. “Buck” Hanes 74, of Grampian passed away Sunday June 10, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born July 1, 1937 in Austin, PA he was the son of Floyd C. and Elsie (Mead) Hanes. He worked in the coal strippings and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union #66 where he retired in 2000 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed Hunting and Fishing and working in his Garden.
On Dec. 2, 1955 in Genesee, PA he wed Marie M. Watson who survives along with 3 children Colleen M. Hanes of Concord, NC, Dale R. Hanes of Stronach, and Holly O. Halford and her husband Jeff of Nesbit, MS. Grandchildren Jessica Hanes, Kirk Whitaker, Chris Hanes, Colleen Underwood, Ashley Halford, and Shane Halford. Great Grandchildren Cody & Conner Kyler, Braylon and Khloe Whitaker, Jade and Salem Underwood, and Jaylenn Hanes. A sister Jane Wisor and her husband Jim of Curwensville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Cheryl Hanes, Brothers Elwin “Nib” Hanes, Jerry Hanes and Melvin Hanes. And sisters Joan Maines, and Joyce Johnston.
Services for Floyd Hanes will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Saturday June 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomington Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on June 16 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
