Atwood B. Loper, 99 of DuBois died Friday at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born Feb. 1, 1913 in Wellsboro, he was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Brown) Loper.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth Brown Loper, and she preceded him in death on February of 2001.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Mr. Loper was a foreman of Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania in Beaver Falls for many years. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
He is survived by a niece, Mrs. Walter (Ann) Kosiba of DuBois and a nephew, Donald M. Millin and his wife, Janet of Warrington; two great-nieces, Angela Alexander and Jennifer DeChristopher; and two great-nephews, David and Andy Kosiba.
He was precede in death by a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Millin and a great-niece, Kristin Millin.
There will be no public visitation or service. Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Cemetery, Rochester.
