CLEARFIELD – A man accused of robbing the Nittany Minit Mart in Bigler while wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bandana to cover his face had a hearing on Wednesday.
Christopher Gerald faces two counts of robbery, terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking and related charges.
The alleged victim in the case testified that on the evening of Jan. 31 she was working when someone came up behind her and put something against her back and demanded money.
“I was in shock,” she said.
She said the person was wearing a black puffy coat/jacket, had a hooded shirt on with skulls on the hood, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bandana over his mouth and dark colored pants. She testified that his nose and eyes stood out the most to her. She said his eyes looked like a drug addict’s.
She stated that he pushed her to a register and demanded she give her the money. She stated she did so, and he got about $250 in total.
Under cross she testified that she picked Gerald out of a photo lineup. She stated that she told police the reason she picked him out was due to his eyes and nose.
Tpr. Kimberly Ronan said she talked to a number of people after she witnessed surveillance footage of the incident. She indicated they directed her to Gerald as the suspect.
Following testimony, Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins bound all charges over to the next term of the Court of Common Pleas.
