CLEARFIELD COUNTY – Work to replace a structurally deficient bridge south of the village of Curry Run will get underway this week. The bridge spans Haslett Run on Route 219 in Greenwood Township.
Replacing the bridge with a new composite beam structure will continue to shorten PennDOT’s list of structurally deficient bridges in Clearfield County. The new bridge will provide drivers with smoother, safer and more efficient travel across a modern structure.
Preliminary work will take place this week, with no impacts to traffic. The week of June 11 will see crews begin to build a two-lane, temporary roadway around the bridge, so that traffic will not be detoured during the bridge replacement.
Construction of the temporary roadway will include daylight roadway flagging and drivers may encounter short travel delays. PennDOT expects to switch traffic to the temporary road in early July and will issue a project update prior to the switch.
The Haslett Run Bridge was built in 1925, is 40 feet long and carries average daily traffic of 3,100 vehicles.
Overall work on this replacement project includes construction of the new bridge and approaches, roadway paving, drainage improvements, and guide rail updates. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Clearwater Construction Inc. of Mercer is the contractor on this $1.3 million project. Work is scheduled to be finished in early November.
