Raymond J. Gmerek, Sr, 74, Philipsburg, passed away at 7:40 p.m., May 22, 2012 at his residence.
He was born July 5, 1937 at Morann, a son of the late Maxemilian and Elizabeth (Mick) Gmerek.
Raymond was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg and retired as a laborer from J.H. France Refectories, Snow Shoe after 35 years services.
On Nov. 27, 1964 in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, he married Gloria Jean (Warholic) Gmerek who survives of Philipsburg.
Raymond is survived by four children; Raymond J. Gmerek, Jr, of Bellefonte; Bryan L. Gmerek and his wife Debbie of Woodland; Charles A. Gmerek of State College; and Rayleen M. Riley and her husband Steve of Osceola Mills.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Jessica Gmerek, Ryan Gmerek, Emily Gmerek, Erica Gmerek and Kian Riley.
Raymond is survived by two sisters and a brother; Barbara Moore and her husband Don of State College; Dianna Kitko and her husband Andrew of Newport, MI; and Rev. Fr. Ronald Gmerek of Erie. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by a brother, Maxemilian Gmerek and a sister, Shirley Gmerek.
Friends will be received on May 25, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on May 26 from 8-9 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Ramey, PA.
Fr. Robert J. Kelly and Fr. Ronald Gmerek will concelebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on May 26, at 10:00 a.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg.
