Obituary Notice: John Darmiento

John Darmiento, 82, of Curwensville died Tuesday May 8 at his residence. Born July 22, 1929 in Newburg, NY, he was the son of Joseph John and Francis (Scime) Darmiento.

Mr. Darmiento served with the U.S. Air Force for 13 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was discharged as a master sergeant.  He was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.

He worked as a bailiff for the Monmouth County, NJ Sheriff’s Department, for the Lilly-Tulip Co. a division of Owens-Illinois Corp. and for the U.S. Department of Immigration and Naturalization.

Surviving is his wife, the former Mildred “Millie” Vail of Curwensville; two sons and a daughter, John Darmiento Jr. of Curwensville, and Terry Kendal and her husband, Douglas and Robert Hickman, both of Oakhurst, NJ; and a granddaughter Kasi Tozer of Olanta.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Janet Piercey in 2011.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, Walnut Street, Curwensville with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville when the procession will depart for the church.

Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield American Legion and Clearfield VFW Joint Honor Guard.

 

A Scripture Vigil Services will be conducted Monday evening at the funeral home.
