Council members and Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott pointed to the importance of being able to keep their representative in Clearfield County.
According to prior reports, the preliminary plan adopted April 11 would move the 74th Legislative District to Chester County in two years and carve the long-standing district among three lawmakers.
Retiring state Rep. Camille “Bud” George (D-74) has urged citizens to stand up against the plan. Recently, Clearfield County Commissioner Mark McCracken (also a candidate for the 74 district seat) and Clearfield County Solicitor Kim Kesner attended a meeting before the Legislative Reapportionment Commission and opposed its proposed redistricting plan, which will divide Clearfield County into thirds and cost its 81,000 citizens their localized political representation in Harrisburg.
It was also reported that the redistricting plan was put together in a bipartisan effort.
