Obituary Notice: Edna M. Robbins

Edna M. Robbins, 92, a lifelong resident of Olanta, passed away April 20, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Lynne Peacock.

Mrs. Robbins was born on July 8, 1919 in Knox Twp., Clearfield Co., the daughter of Maywood and Catherine (Emberg) Rowles.

In the summer of 1924, she and her family traveled to Jennings, La., where she attended first grade. Returning home in the spring of 1925 she attended Pleasant Ridge Grade School, graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1937 and then attended York Business School.

Mrs. Robbins had been employed by Riverside bakery on Old Town Road, Clearfield and the Olanta Cheese Company.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Olanta where she was part of the Ladies Bible class.

Mrs. Robbins was involved in the D & J Camera Club and the Clearfield Ladies Coffee Bowling League.

She enjoyed gardening, working on the farm and loved baseball.

Mrs. Robbins is survived by three children; Bonnell “Bonnie” Witherow and her husband D. Duane of Olanta, Raymond Robbins and his wife Judith of Clearfield and Lynne Peacock and her husband Larry of Olanta, seven grandchildren; Lance Witherow and his wife Laura, Link Witherow and his wife Gretchen, Michelle Martin, Kristie Keeler and her husband Blair, Christopher Peacock and his wife Jennifer, Matthew Peacock and his wife Janette and Randy Peacock and his wife Kearstin, twelve great grandchildren; Shauna, Shianne, Elsa, Kyler, Ashlyn, Alexis, Rachel, Kaylee, Harrison, Brock, Katie and Conner.

She was the last member of her generation having been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry M. Robbins whom she married December 11, 1940 and who passed away October 18, 2011, a grandson, Douglas Peacock, a sister, Edith Robbins and eight brothers; Howard, Perry, Kelly, David, Allen, Edward, Glenn and Desmond Rowles.

Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Olanta on April 24 at 2:00 p.m. with Certified Lay Minister Candidate Mr. Paul Bowers officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield on April 23 from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of services.
