TYRONE — After dropping a number of close matches recently, the Clearfield Area High School boys tennis team finally picked up win number two on the season by dropping host Tyrone 5-2.
The Bisons (2-7) lost the number one singles match, but then ran off victories in the rest of singles play to secure the win. Tyrone had defeated the Bisons 4-3 back on April 3.
Singles Results:
1. Kerry Maines (clfd) lost Rich Crabtree (t) 6-1, 0-6, 4-6.
2. Cory Maines (clfd) beat Ben Hample (t) 6-2, 6-0.
3. Ian Bookhamer (clfd) beat Justin Miller (t) 6-4, 6-1. 4. Kunal Patel (clfd) beat Shawn Givler (t) 6-1, 6-1. 5. Vince Owens (clfd) beat Josh Maier (t) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.
Doubles Results:
1. Kerry Maines and Cory Maines (clfd) lost to Rich Crabtree and Justin Miller (t) in a pro set match 1-8.
2. Ben Panebianco and Gabe Ford (clfd) beat Issac Gates and Zack Gates (t) in a pro set match 8-6.
