Paul A. Frankovich, 85, of Ginter passed away at 10:15 p.m., April 17, 2012 at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1927 at Morann, a son of the late John and Anna (McClosky) Frankovich.
Paul served in the U.S. Army during WW II with the 511th Parachutist Infantry . He worked as a Coal Miner for 30 years in various area coal mines.
He was a organizing member of St. Barbara’s National Catholic Church, Houtzdale and was a member of the church Young Men Society of the Resurrection. He also was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 488 and the Stephen Kandrach VFW Post 6321 of Smithmill.
On Jan. 10, 1948 in the former St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church, Houtzdale, Paul married Mary L. (Kislack) Frankovich, she survives at home.
Paul is survived by 6 children; Nicholas Frankovich and his wife Arlene of Allport; Carol Hart of Ginter; Deborah King and her husband John of Osceola Mills; Joseph Frankovich of Tarpon Spring, FL; Sandra Newell and her husband Bill of Ramey; Patty Kyler and her husband Jay of Clearfield and family friend Patrick Kayes.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Michael and Christopher Deutsch, Heidi Fisher, and Derrick Deutsch; Randy Folmar and Pam McGuire; Curtis and Donald Travis; Emily and Breanne Supenia and Tiffany and Norman Kyler. 12 great grandchildren also survive.
Paul is survived by four siblings; Frances Deao, Martin Frankovich and Lillian Popovich all of Morann; and Frank Frankovich and his wife Fran of Buffalo, NY; a son-in-law, Michael Deutsch of Daytona Beach Shores, FL and a sister-in-law, Stella Frankovich of Ginter.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a daughter, Polly Ann Deutsch on April 3, 2005 and three brothers, Vincent, Joseph and Robert Frankovich.
Friends will be received at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Ramey on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Scott Lill officiating.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Barbara’s National Catholic Church, Houtzdale, on April 21 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Scott J. Lill as the celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Barbara’s National Catholic Cemetery, Houtzdale. The Osceola Mills Honor Guard will accord Military Honors at graveside.
