CLEARFIELD – At least 23 vendors offering high-end items including baskets, jewelry, home decor and gourmet food are committed to a padde auction slated for April 29 at the Ag Building in the Clearfield Driving Park to benefit the Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The event will also mark the inauguraton of the organization’s new Humane Officer Training Fund, established to ensure money is alway available to pay the fees and tuition required to keep the certification of the SPCA’s two humane officers current.
The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with the auction commencing at 2 p.m. Admission is $3 and additional paddles cost $1 or an item from the SPCA Wish List. Everyone attending must pay the admission fee.
The day’s menu will feature homemade meatball sandwiches, hot dogs and homemade baked goods.
According to Beth Hallstrom, who is organizing the auction with Annette Stiver, “Paddle auctions are fast and fun and, for a few quarters, offer a chance to take home some fabulous merchandise.”
No bid will exceed $1.25, she added.
The SPCA Wish List includes paper towels, paper plates, bleach, garbage bags, postage stamps, copy paper, office supplies, Sheetz gas cards, Kong brand toys, and new or gently used blankets and towels.
