PHILIPSBURG – A Centre Hall man is in jail after allegedly stabbing of a 37-year-old woman.
According to the state police in Philipsburg, troopers were called to Mt. Nittany Medical Center on April 15 to meet with an assault victim. Police spoke with the alleged victim, who told them that she and Chancil E. Stitzer got into an argument that turned physical. She stated that Stitzer stabber her left forearm with a knife and choked her. She said he would not allow her to leave and seek treatment for her injuries. A relative later arrived to speak with her, saw the injuries and transported her to the hospital.
An attempt to find Stitzer was taken with negative results. A warrant was then issued for his arrest. On April 16, he agreed to meet with troopers in Bellefonte and was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Allen Sinclair and placed in Centre County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail.
Stitzer faces charges of: aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, simple assault and harassment. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 25.
