CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of April 9, 2012.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Darek Lloyd, age 27, of Glasgow, Pennsylvania.
Shaw stated that Lloyd is wanted for failure to appear at plea and sentencing Court on March 26, 2012.
On Jan. 30, 2012, Trooper Dewaine Kephart of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint charging Lloyd with: 1) fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, F3; 2) drivers required to be licensed, S; 3) driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, S; 4) driving on right side of roadway, S; 5) no-passing zones, S; 6) stop signs and yield signs, S; 7) turning movements and required signals, S; 8) maximum speed limits, S; 9) reckless driving, S; 10) immediate notice of accident to police department, S; 11) restriction on alcoholic beverages, S; and 12) restraint systems, S.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Kephart states that on Jan. 18, 2012, the Pennsylvania State Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Route 53. When Troopers approached the vehicle it fled the location at a high rate of speed. Troopers pursued the vehicle which was passing several other vehicles in no passing zones and was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The vehicle then crossed the roadway and struck an embankment. The driver then fled on foot. Upon investigation it was found that Lloyd was the operator of the vehicle and he was located hiding in a chicken coop.
A preliminary hearing was held on Feb, 8, 2012, at which time all charges were held to court. On March 26, 2012, Lloyd failed to appear for Plea and Sentencing Court and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
