The Community and Economic Development (CEDEV) Summer Institute, sponsored by the Penn State Community and Economic Development Graduate Program, will focus on community sustainability in May. The 2012 CEDEV Summer Institute will be held at the Days Inn Penn State, May 14-16, and is open to anyone with an interest in community sustainability.
Participants can join CEDEV students, graduates, faculty, practitioners, elected officials and others to examine community sustainability through three days of engaging presentations, breakout sessions, networking opportunities and more.
From the summer institute, attendees will gain better understanding of what community sustainability means, how to prepare communities for discussions about sustainability, how to assess a community’s sustainability, an example of one framework for achieving community sustainability, and attendees will have the beginnings of an action plan for working with a community to develop a community sustainability strategy.
