WJACTV.COM: STPD Reports Three Bath Salt Related Overdoses

DUBOIS – Within the last week and a half Sandy Township police reported three bath salt related overdoses in the township.

Officials said one incident was at the Dubois Walmart where it was determined a couple was high on bath salts.

This week Sandy Township police said that they responded to a call where a 28-year-old man was out of control.  Officials said the man was screaming at Snappy’s.  Police said it was determined he was on bath salts.

Dr. Jodee Meddy, Emergency Room Technician at the Dubois Regional Medical Center said that patients who come in high on bath salts act bizarre.

“People come in extremely, extremely agitated.  In fact we had a case the other day, this week actually of a patient who came in very bizarre, agitated and really could be a harm to themselves,” she said.

Meddy said that synthetic drugs like bath salts are popping up more often in the area.
