Softball releases home promotional schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball announced its promotional schedule for its 16 home games at Beard Field and Nittany Lion Softball Park this spring. The home opener is on Tuesday, April 3 against Pittsburgh for a doubleheader, kicking off a 10-game home stand.

Wednesday, April 3 at 3 p.m. vs. PITTSBURGH (DH)
A portion of all tickets bought for the home-opening doubleheader will go to THON. Penn State will be giving away magnets and posters for the 2012 season, while the first 150 in attendance will receive a free Vita Coco drink. Kids are also encouraged to pick up their coloring flyer and bring it to the Michigan State series for a free ticket. Softball Coloring Flyer

Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. vs. MICHIGAN STATE (DH)
Penn State marketing will be giving away PSU softball pens to all attendees. Kids who bring their colored-in Penn State flyer will receive a free ticket.

Sunday, April 8 at 1 p.m. vs. MICHIGAN STATE
Penn State will host an Easter Egg Hunt after Sunday’s ball game. Also, fans attending the game will receive free candy and kids can take a photo with the Easter Bunny as well.

Wednesday, April 11 at 3 p.m. vs. TEMPLE (DH)
Fans attending the doubleheader against Temple will receive a Penn State softball seat cushion and the Nittany Lions will be welcoming the residents of The Village as special guests.

Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. vs. INDIANA (DH)
The second home Big Ten doubleheader of the year will be Penn State’s Code Blue Blast for all students. The points are worth triple for your attendance and there will be special food giveaways for students. Also, students who attend will be entered into drawings for great prizes such as iPods, iPads and TVs.

Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m. vs. INDIANA

The three-game series against Indiana wraps up on Father-Daughter Day. Also, Penn State will be welcoming the Merion Walker Little League and children will get the opportunity to run the bases after the game and see the brand new Nittany Lion Softball Park up close and personal with a tour. Little Leaguers will receive a Penn State softball zipper charm and all fans will receive softball hats. The Penn State softball team will stick around after the game for a post-game autograph session.

Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. vs. MINNESOTA (DH)
Penn State welcomes local Girl Scout troops as they help collect food items for the local food bank. The girl scouts are working the Penn State-Minnesota doubleheader for badges. The Nittany Lions ask that you bring non-perishable items to donate to the cause.

Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. vs. MINNESOTA (Big Ten Network)
The Nittany Lions will host the State College Little League and Special Olympics in the finale of the three-game series vs. Minnesota. Little Leaguers and Special Olympians will have the opportunity to tour the facilities and run the bases after the game and receive a softball zipper charm. The Sunday matchup will also be aired live on the Big Ten Network. The Penn State softball team will stick around after the game for a post-game autograph session.

Friday, May 11 vs. OHIO STATE (Big Ten Network)
The Penns Valley Little League and residents of The Village will be honored at the ballpark. The Little Leaguers will receive a zipper charm and fans can enjoy the game on Big Ten Network.

Saturday, May 12 vs. OHIO STATE (DH)
The final regular season games of the year will celebrate the careers of Penn State’s five senior student-athletes. Also, Penn State will be recognizing all mothers in the stands with flowers to all that attend. The Nittany Lions will also have their Pitch for Pink Day. Pink wristbands will be distributed and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the ballpark in honor of the fight against breast cancer.

TICKET INFORMATION
All tickets are general admission for $5 per game. Penn State students with ID are free of charge and groups of 15 or more are $3 per person. Fans will have two ways of purchasing tickets-at the Nittany Lion Softball Park ticket office on game days and the Bryce Jordan Center box office-to all softball games¬ this year. Nittany Lion Softball Park and its ticket office will open one hour prior to first pitch on all game days.

While there are no season tickets available, fans will be able, and are encouraged, to purchase tickets in advance for all games this year. The Bryce Jordan Center ticket office will be offering softball tickets during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.) as well as over the phone at (814) 865-5555. If fans wish to purchase advance tickets in person at the BJC box office no additional fees will be included, while over-the-phone purchases will incur a $1 per ticket fee. Groups interested in purchasing tickets are encouraged to contact Joel Diamond at (814) 867-2557.

PARKING INFORMATION
Parking for all games will be free of charge and can be found on site at the complex. Visitors will have to use the entrance off Park Avenue, which is located between University Drive and Bigler Road near the East Halls dormitories. The ballpark ticket office is located to the right of the main gate.
